Celebrating Mental Wealth

As the year draws to a close we are winding down with a year-end event which is both meaningful, fun and exciting.

Calling all Colorectal Patients – newly diagnosed, recovering or recovered, (from any hospital, colorectal support group, or colorectal patient group) – join us at the Changi General Hospital – Ostomy Association of Singapore ‘Mental Wealth’ Event happening on Saturday 25th November at CGH Main Building Auditorium.

This will be an excellent chance for you to meet and connect with those who have walked the journey, as well as learn about all the many other support resources that are available.

Details are in the posters below. Sign up now!

Bowel Cancer Patient turned Doctor – Meet and Greet with Dr Ben Bravery – exclusive to OAS Members, and Colorectal Patients and Support Group Members from SCS, SGH, CGH, TTSH, KTPH, NUH and NTFGH.

Join us in getting to know Dr. Ben Bravery, a passionate advocate for both patients and the future of healthcare.

Dr Ben Bravery was a zoologist who was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2011. Throughout his difficult experience in overcoming the disease, he could not shake off the feeling that the human side in healthcare was missing. Today, he is a doctor who hopes to not only help patients throughout their experience, but also change the system to improve the way it treats patients and cancer patients.

Originally a zoologist and science communicator, Ben Bravery worked for the Australian and Chinese governments before being diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer at age twenty-eight. After undergoing eighteen months of cancer treatment, Ben decided on a career change. He became a doctor in 2018 and is now undertaking speciality training in psychiatry. Ben volunteers, advocates, writes and speaks about colorectal cancer, living with cancer, cancer in young adults, medicine and medical education, and is committed to advocating for change in Australia’s healthcare system.
